The focus of this blog is experiencing a healthy life. What does experiencing a healthy life mean? To me it means having the energy to do the activities my family enjoys and having a positive attitude toward life events. Eating healthy food to maintain a healthy weight and build a strong immune system for preventing many illnesses is also a vital part of the experience.
We have almost completed the first month of 2012. Many of us set goals at the beginning of the year. Where are we now? At this point many people have already lost sight of those new goals and settled back into patterns that have been established for many years. In order to achieve new goals we need new patterns. As the holiday season wraps up and the new year starts often we feel a little post-holiday slump. So what do we do?
I caught myself in that slump earlier this week. I had set some new goals for myself and I realized I had slipped right back into the habits I wanted to change. So I am re-implementing my new year’s plan. The exciting thing about having a plan is that it can be re-started. I don’t have to beat myself up, I simply need to notice that I have strayed off my path and get back on it.
What is my plan? I am doing yoga 3 to 4 days a week for 45 minutes each session. I am also walking the new puppy we got for Christmas 6 days a week. I have set aside time once a week to plan healthy meals for my family incorporating lean protein, whole grains, colorful vegetables, fruit, and low-fat dairy. My goal is to wrap up 2012 a few pounds lighter and a few inches trimmer. Throughout the year I will be sharing my progress with this plan along with tips that I hope will help you achieve your goals for 2012.
As we move into month 2 of 2012 refocus on your plan and enjoy the process of implementing that plan and reaping the rewards. I would love to hear your plan for 2012 in the comments below.
